I have recently read a book called 'Refugee Boy'. The book was written by Benjamin Zephaniah. The book was all about a young chap named Alem and his application for asylum in Britian.
The book had text that was easy to read and understand. This was a very gripping story, i was always wondering if Alem made it to the end alive and happy. This was a book that i couldn't put down.
The book was all about a young chap called Alem. Alem was brought to live in Britian by his father because of the war between Ethiopia and Eritrean. Alem's parents were concerned for his safety. After four days Alem's father left to go home, leaving Alem by himself in England. As the story goes on you learn more about Alem and his family. Alem puts in an application for asylum in Britian and was sent to live firstly in a childrens home, then with foster parents. Later in the story Alem recieves a letter from back home saying that his mother had been killed. Alem continues with his application for asylum and his education, he then gets more devastating news, but what was his news? I recommend reading this book to anyone.
I would give this book a star rating of five it was a fantastic story that i would recommend to anyone. Great holiday reading, it was .
