WATCHING THE ROSES

I started to read a book over the weekend called ' Watching The Roses'.  It was a book that was based on the fairytale Sleeping Beauty. The book was written by Adele Geras.

The text in this book was was really small and difficult to read. After the first ten or so pages i wasn't really enjoying the book. However i continued to read it, i thought that i would be surprised by the ending and what can i say, i was shocked not surprised.

The book was all about Alice. Alice was aseventeen year old living at home with her parents. Alicewas looking forward to her eighteenth birthday party, despite the fact that her aunt Viollette who was a witch of some sort put the curse of death on her when she was a baby. Aunt Viollette wished that Alice would never grow old only living to eighteen perhaps. Alice invited many people to her eighteenth birthday party and she was having a great time until someone done something to Alice that was to almost ruin her life. Alice was raped and left alone and frightened until her father came to find her.  Alice took this very badly, she wouldn't comeout her bedroom and wouldn't talk to anyone, but someone in Alice's life changed all that, but who?

This book i enjoyed very much, it took me a while to get into it, but it was a fantastic story. I would recommend it to anyone. I feel that it deserves a star rating of five, what a fantastic ending to a difficult story.
